Russia to help Italy get back to world mkt of n-power in 3-5 yrs

MOSCOW, November 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia will help Italy to get back to the world market of nuclear power in three to five years from now, the chief of the federal atomic energy agency Rosatom, Sergei Kiriyenko, said on Thursday after Rosatom and Italy’s Economic Development Ministry signed a declaration of intent.

“The agreement provides for cooperation in building third and fourth generation reactors,” he said.

The Italian government has made a decision, but they have not retained some of the original competencies. We shall keep talking to our Italian counterparts, he said.

Under the agreement a Russian-Italian working group, still to be created, will have six months to finalize a road map or a program for bilateral cooperation.

Kiriyenko did not rule out the possibility of supplies of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants in Italy.

MOSCA, 6 novembre (Itar Tass) La Russia aiuterà l'Italia a tornare nel mercato mondiale dell'energia nucleare in 3 - 5 anni da oggi, ha dichiarato martedì Sergei Kiriyenko, capo dell'agenzia federale per l'energia atomica Rosatom dopo che l'agenzia stessa e il ministro italiano dello sviluppo economico hanno firmato una dichiarazione d'intenti.

"L'accordo consentirà una cooperazione nella costruzione di reattori di terza e quarta generazione" ha dichiarato Sergei Kiriyenko.

"Il governo italiano ha preso una decisione ma non possiede più le competenze originali. Sarà necessario dialogare con la nostra controparte italiana", ha proseguito.

L'accordo prevede la creazione di un gruppo russo-italiano che avrà sei mesi per produrre una "road map" o un programma per la cooperazione bilaterale.

Kiriyenko non ha fatto dichiarazioni in merito alla possibilità di fornire combustibile nucleare alle eventuali centrali italiane.

MOSCOW, April 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has set a very tight deadline for the Russian space agency Roskosmos to say what is to be done to re-equip the national space rocket industry, the agency’s chief, Anatoly Perminov, told.

“After Friday’s meeting of the Security Council, which considered the basics of Russia’s policy in the sphere of space activity till the year 2020 and beyond the president issued the instruction to draft within a ten-day deadline a list of proposals for upgrading space rocket industries in general,” Perminov said. Also, the Security Council looked at all aspects of Russia’s space activity, first and foremost, the condition of manned space programs and of the global satellite navigation system GLONASS.

ROMA - Uno su cinque degli oltre 1400 intervistati da Nature Network, il forum per scienziati diretto dalla rivista Nature, ammette di usare farmaci per migliorare la concentrazione e la memoria. Di questi, la metà svela di assumerne giornalmente. Sono 1427 gli scienziati che hanno compilato un questionario on line: lavorano in 60 paesi e la maggiorparte proviene da Stati Uniti, Regno Unito e Australia. L'indagine si è concentrata su tre farmaci: Ritalin, Modavigil e beta bloccanti. Per capire l'entità del fenomeno, Barbara Sahakian e Sharon Morein-Zamir hanno attivato un forum che consente ai colleghi di rispondere alle domande, rimanendo protetti dall'anonimato.

Il Ritalin (metilfenidato MPH) è assunto in ambito accademico per amplificare le prestazioni cognitive. Questo farmaco, di cui si avvale il 68% degli intervistati, è analogo alle anfetamine ed è utilizzato per il trattamento del disturbo da deficit dell'attenzione e iperattività in bambini (noto come ADHD) e adulti. I ricercatori ricorrono inoltre al Provigil, uno stimolante mentale e ai beta-bloccanti, che fungono anche da ansiolitici e sono i favoriti per chi soffre di ipertensione.

L'80% degli interpellati ha dichiarato di essere favorevole all'assunzione di questi medicinali e quasi il 70% ha assicurato di farne uso. "Come professionista - ha scritto uno di loro - è mio diritto utilizzare tutte le risorse disponibili per fare il bene dell'umanità. Se questi farmaci possono contribuire a servire il genere umano, sono autorizzato ad assumerli". All'interno del campione, nonostante sia ancora acceso il dibattito sull'opportunità di prescrivere il Ritalin ai bambini, un terzo si è dichiarato favorevole alla somministrazione in età pediatrica.

Queste sostanze sono state usate da sole o in associazione ad altre, fuori del contesto medico, da ben 288 intervistati, che ammettono di assumerli in vista di un particolare impegno scientifico e per annullare il jet lag. Tutti si sono detti disposti a sopportare lievi effetti collaterali pur di accrescere le proprie capacità intellettuali.

Si tratta solo di un sondaggio, ma la ricerca mostra come, tra la cura delle malattie e la ricerca del benessere, il confine sia sottile, portando così all'accettazione culturale di sostanze che aumentano le prestazioni. "E' allarmante il fatto che gli scienziati siano alla ricerca di scorciatoie", afferma Wilson Compton, direttore di Epidemiology and Prevention Research all'Us National Institute on Drug Abuse.
